About
About WDI
Wireless Dynamics Inc. (WDI) is a global leader in ODM (Original
Design and Manufacturing) services in the wireless device industry. We provide
one stop ODM services from concept to market, including the development and
manufacturing of private-label, semi-custom and custom designs. Customer
training and support, in addition to technical support for Pre-FTA, FTA,
Regulatory Approval and Carrier accreditation are standard services. Our
dedicated, professional engineers work closely together to design, develop
and manufacture wireless communications. Our staff includes alumni from
Novatel Wireless, Novatel GPS, Nortel and Vtech. They excel in all areas of
Wireless Design (WAN and LAN) including RF, hardware, software, architecture
and system design, and in the development of wireless applications that are
of superb quality and performance.
Our specialty is in wide area and local area wireless communications, that
utilize the current major communication standards such as GSM, GPRS, CDMA,
Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Wi-Max and more. Our team has extensive experience in
designing all types of devices including mobile phones, Personal Digital
Assistants (PDAs), Smartphones, wireless modules, Wi-Fi devices and Bluetooth
devices. We use advanced development equipment including: R&S Communication
Testers for GSM/GPRS and CDMA, Agilent Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers
up to 30GHz and Vector Signal Generators.
We are continuing to grow our product expertise with emerging markets and
technologies. Our most recent cutting edge solution provides NFC and RFID
Reader/Write functionalities for PDA’s, Smartphones and mobility devices. In
addition to NFC and RFID products, Wireless Dynamics provides leading edge
ODM cellular phone designs for service providers, distributors and manufacturers
in North America, China, Hong Kong and Europe. Our partnership with Wong’s
Electronics allows us to provide superior quality, competitively priced
products that are produced in high-volume manufacturing facilities in Shenzhen
and Suzhou, China. Currently, we do not directly sell products to consumers.
However, our products are available in Asia from our customers.
Wireless Dynamics Inc. is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in the
heart of Calgary’s wireless technology sector. Calgary, Alberta is fast
becoming recognized as Canada’s center for leading edge wireless technology.
Ambrose Tam, also the cofounder and former President of Novatel Wireless Inc.,
founded Wireless Dynamics Inc. in 2003.
About RFID
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) uses low-powered radio
transmitters to read data stored in a transponder (tag) over distances of
typically a few centimeters. RFID works using small pieces of hardware called
RFID chips. These chips feature an antenna to transmit and receive radio
signals. These chips may be attached or injected into objects. Whenever a
reader within range sends appropriate signals to an object, the associated
RFID chip responds with the requested information, such as an identification
number or product date. The reader, in turn, displays the response data to an
operator. Readers may also forward data to a networked central computer
system. RFID systems generally support storing information on the chips as
well as simply reading data. RFID is a system for tagging and identifying
mobile objects such as store merchandise and postal packages. It allows
objects to be labeled and tracked as they move from place to place. RFID
systems were created as an alternative to barcodes. Relative to barcodes, RFID
allows objects to be scanned from a greater distance and supports storing of
data, allowing more information to be tracked per object.
About NFC
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a combination of
contactless identification and interconnection technologies that enables
convenient short-range communication between personal electronic devices. It
enables people to intuitively connect any two devices to each other to
exchange information or access content and services, easily and securely.
Combining the functions of a contactless reader, a contactless card and
peer-to-peer functionality, NFC opens consumer lifestyles to a myriad of new
opportunities. It is an open interface platform that allows fast and automatic
set-up of wireless networks, and also works as a virtual connector for
existing cellular, Bluetooth and wireless 802.11 devices.
